Wayne, Wayne County, Michigan, USA

Wayne is a city in western Wayne County, Michigan, along the lower Rouge River. Settlement began in 1824 on the old Chicago Road, now Michigan Avenue. Mills, rail transportation and carriage manufacturing helped the community develop into a local commercial center. Automobile and truck production later became important parts of its industrial economy. The city was named for Gen. Anthony Wayne.
