Minot is a city in north-central North Dakota and the seat of Ward County. It stands along the Souris River amid the open prairie and agricultural lands of the northern Great Plains. Founded in 1886 during construction of the Great Northern Railway, the city became a trading and transportation center known as the Magic City for its rapid growth.
