Exton is a census-designated place in West Whiteland Township near the geographic center of Chester County. U.S. Route 30 and Pennsylvania Route 100 meet at the community, while regional rail and the Chester Valley Trail connect it with the wider Philadelphia area. Long known as the Exton Crossroads, the area developed from a rural junction into a major suburban commercial center during the 20th century. Exton counted 5,622 residents in the 2020 census. Offices, shopping, life sciences, hospitality and mixed-use development surround its older crossroads and nearby residential neighborhoods.
