Radnor Township lies along Philadelphia’s Main Line in northwestern Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Lenape people lived in the area before Welsh Quakers established the township in 1682. The Lancaster Turnpike, opened in 1794, and the railroad helped connect it with Philadelphia. Wayne grew from a railroad village into a planned suburb in the late 19th century. Former country estates became residential neighborhoods and institutional campuses, including Villanova University.
