Pulaski is the county seat of Giles County in south-central Tennessee, north of the Alabama state line and near the center of the county. The downtown district stands north of Richland Creek, a tributary of the Elk River, and retains a traditional courthouse-square form. The University of Tennessee Southern, historic districts and regional museums give the city an educational and cultural role beyond its size. Pulaski had an estimated population of 8,241 in 2024, about 1.8% below the 2020 estimates base. Automotive components, metal and plastics manufacturing, food production, health care, education, retail and agriculture-linked businesses support the local economy.
