Sandston, Henrico County, Virginia, USA

Sandston is a census-designated community in eastern Henrico County, about 7 miles east of downtown Richmond and beside Richmond International Airport. Its compact neighborhoods occupy relatively level terrain near major highways, rail lines and the Chickahominy River lowlands. Sandston developed in the early 20th century as a planned streetcar suburb, and many of its streets were laid out around the transportation routes linking Richmond with eastern Virginia. The community had about 7,800 residents at the 2020 census. Aviation, logistics, manufacturing, hospitality and proximity to the Richmond metropolitan area shape its present-day character.
