Colfax is a city and the seat of Whitman County in southeastern Washington’s Palouse region. The north and south branches of the Palouse River meet in the valley where the town developed. Rolling hills and dryland wheat farms surround the community. Milling, rail connections and trade with nearby farms helped establish Colfax as a regional commercial and administrative center.
