Location overview

Spokane is a city in eastern Washington on the Spokane River, west of the Idaho border. The river’s falls shaped the settlement and later became the center of a rail and industrial district. The city converted former rail land around the falls for Expo '74, leaving Riverfront Park as a lasting public space. Downtown streets and residential neighborhoods spread outward from that riverfront core. Spokane remains a commercial and cultural center for the Inland Northwest, with the falls as a visible link between its natural setting and urban history.
