Location overview
Clarksburg is a city in north-central West Virginia and the county seat of Harrison County. It occupies hills and valleys along the West Fork River, with a historic downtown surrounded by residential neighborhoods and newer development along regional highways. The community was established in the late 18th century and named for Revolutionary War officer George Rogers Clark. Railroads, glassmaking, coal and oil once drove much of its growth. Health care, education, energy services and regional commerce now complement its industrial heritage.
