Organization overview

The Harrison County Commission is the governing body of Harrison County in north-central West Virginia. Based in Clarksburg, the county seat, the commission oversees county finances, facilities, infrastructure and other responsibilities assigned under state law. Its jurisdiction includes Clarksburg, Bridgeport, Shinnston, Salem and numerous smaller communities. Harrison County was organized in 1784 and later became part of West Virginia when the state was formed during the Civil War. The commission’s work connects countywide administration with the needs of both urban centers and rural communities.
