The Columbus Water Works service area is centered on Columbus-Muscogee County in west-central Georgia and also includes Fort Benning. The utility supplies supplemental wholesale water to customers in Harris and Talbot counties, so its operating footprint extends beyond the consolidated Columbus-Muscogee boundary. Lake Oliver and the Chattahoochee River are the principal raw-water sources for the system. Columbus Water Works reported serving approximately 262,581 people in fiscal 2025, with 68,419 active water accounts and 61,610 sewer accounts. The service area follows water and wastewater infrastructure and customer connections rather than a single political boundary, and the two utility footprints are not necessarily identical.
