Boise State University is a public doctoral research university in Boise, Idaho, governed by the Idaho State Board of Education. It opened as Boise Junior College in 1932, became a four-year college in 1965 and adopted its current name in 1974. The university offers bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral study through seven academic colleges, an Honors College and a Graduate College. Its programs span the arts and sciences, business, education, engineering and health sciences, with courses delivered on its Boise campus and online. Boise State combines teaching with research and community engagement, serving students from Idaho and beyond. It is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities.
