Greene County is a county government in east-central Georgia serving about 21,000 residents from its seat in Greensboro, roughly 75 miles east of Atlanta. Governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, the county provides core local services including courts, tax collection and assessment, elections, public works, planning and zoning, emergency management, parks and recreation, and other administrative functions. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office provides law enforcement, while the county also supports 911 emergency communications and other public safety services in coordination with local agencies.
