JPS Health Network

JPS Health Network is the public health system operated by the Tarrant County Hospital District in North Texas. Its central Fort Worth campus includes John Peter Smith Hospital, a 582-bed teaching hospital and the county’s principal safety-net medical center. The network also operates more than 25 community clinics providing primary, specialty and behavioral health care across Tarrant County. Its major services include trauma care, emergency medicine, maternal and neonatal care, surgery and programs for patients with complex health or social needs. The institution traces its origins to Fort Worth’s early public hospital, opened in 1906, and took the John Peter Smith name in 1954.
