Kansas City Scout System
Organization overview

Kansas City Scout, also known as KC Scout, is the traffic-management service jointly operated by the Missouri and Kansas departments of transportation for the Kansas City metropolitan area. Its control center is in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, and its highway network extends across the state line. Operators use traffic cameras and roadway sensors to monitor conditions and support responses to crashes, stalled vehicles and other incidents. Electronic highway signs, a public website and other information channels help travelers understand congestion and changing road conditions. The service also shares traffic information with emergency-response and media partners, combining freeway monitoring with coordinated incident management.
