Lee’s Summit is a city in western Missouri, about 16 miles southeast of downtown Kansas City. It lies primarily in Jackson County and extends into Cass County. Founded in 1865 as the Town of Strother, it was incorporated and renamed Lee’s Summit in 1868. The city has a charter form of government with a council-manager system.
