Organization overview

Kittson County government is the local governing authority for Kittson County in far northwestern Minnesota, serving a population of about 4,200 residents from the county seat of Hallock. The county government provides a range of public services, including law enforcement through the Kittson County Sheriff’s Office, emergency management, court administration, elections, property assessment and taxation, public health and human services, highway maintenance, environmental services, and driver and motor vehicle licensing. It is governed by a five-member Board of Commissioners, with day-to-day administrative operations overseen by the county administrator. Many county services are delivered in coordination with the State of Minnesota, including driver’s license and motor vehicle transactions through Minnesota Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS).
