Puerto Rico Department of Education

The Puerto Rico Department of Education is the territorial government agency responsible for public schools across Puerto Rico. Its central administration in San Juan coordinates academic programs, transportation, personnel, finances, planning and student services. Regional education offices in Arecibo, Bayamón, Caguas, Humacao, Mayagüez, Ponce and San Juan oversee and support schools in their areas. The department also manages special education, school meals, enrollment and specialized instructional programs. Its school network reaches municipalities throughout the territory, making its operations much broader than one campus or municipality.
