San Juan is Puerto Rico’s capital and largest city, on the island’s northern Atlantic coast. Its historic core occupies an islet beside a broad natural harbor. Spanish colonial walls, forts and public squares remain prominent in Old San Juan. Dense residential and commercial districts extend inland through Santurce, Hato Rey and other neighborhoods.
