Tarrant Appraisal District
Organization overview

Tarrant Appraisal District is a political subdivision of Texas that appraises property and administers property-tax exemptions for taxing jurisdictions in Tarrant County. Established effective Jan. 1, 1980, it operates under the Texas Property Tax Code. The district supplies property values used by cities, school districts, the county and other taxing units to calculate their tax bases, while those units set their own tax rates. It also determines eligibility for authorized exemptions, including homestead, disability, veteran and qualifying organizational exemptions. A board-appointed chief appraiser oversees district administration, and its offices in Fort Worth provide property information, appraisal records and services for property owners.
