Bridgestone says ‘limited’ cyber incident hit some U.S. plants; operations continue

Bridgestone Americas said it is investigating a “limited cyber incident” affecting some U.S. manufacturing facilities, first reported Sept. 1, 2025. The company said it contained the activity early, launched a forensic review and does not believe customer data was affected. Employees at affected sites were offered preventive maintenance work with full pay or the option to go home without pay. The company has not specified which facilities were affected. Operations remain normal, the company said.

In a Sept. 3 statement, the Nashville, Tennessee-based subsidiary said it continues to meet customer obligations while the analysis proceeds. Bridgestone operates seven U.S. plants. The company previously suffered a 2022 LockBit ransomware attack that forced temporary shutdowns across the Americas and led to data exposure, underscoring persistent cyber risk to manufacturing operations.

Bridgestone operates the following facilities in the United States:

  • Akron, Ohio — Advanced Technology Workshop (racing tires).
  • Bloomington, Illinois — Off-the-road tires.
  • Des Moines, Iowa — Agricultural tires.
  • Graniteville, South Carolina — Passenger & light-truck tires.
  • Trenton, South Carolina — Off-the-road radial tires.
  • Morrison, Tennessee (Warren County) — Truck & bus radial tires.
  • Wilson, North Carolina — Passenger & light-truck tires.
