Santa Rosa County is located in Florida’s western Panhandle along the Gulf Coast, immediately east of Pensacola and Escambia County. Stretching from the urbanized communities along Pensacola Bay to the forests and rivers of the interior, the county includes the cities of Milton and Gulf Breeze as well as the rapidly growing communities of Pace and Navarre. It is known for its military ties, white-sand beaches on Santa Rosa Island, extensive public lands including Blackwater River State Forest, and its role as part of the Pensacola metropolitan area. The county had an estimated population of about 215,000 in 2025.
