Bibb County, Georgia, USA
County or equivalent
Location overview

Bibb County is a county in central Georgia, with Macon as its county seat. Established in 1822, it was named for William Wyatt Bibb, a Georgia politician who became Alabama’s first elected governor. The county straddles the fall line between the Piedmont and Coastal Plain. Its location on the Ocmulgee River helped make Macon a transportation and manufacturing center, with river commerce followed by rail connections. City and county voters approved consolidation in 2012, and the Macon-Bibb government began operating in 2014.
