Douglas County, Georgia, USA
County or equivalent
Location overview
Douglas County lies west of Atlanta in Georgia’s Piedmont region, with Douglasville serving as its county seat. Suburban neighborhoods and commercial corridors give way to forests, streams and more rural land toward the county’s edges. Created in 1870, the county developed through farming, rail transportation and small-scale industry before metropolitan growth transformed much of the area. Sweetwater Creek State Park preserves an important natural and industrial landscape. Logistics, health care, retail, manufacturing, construction and regional commuting support the economy.
