Bryan County lies in southern Oklahoma along the Red River and Texas border. Durant is its county seat. The county occupies part of the Coastal Plains, with the Blue River draining toward the Red River and Lake Texoma along its western edge. It was created at Oklahoma statehood in 1907 from lands with Choctaw and Chickasaw histories. Agriculture, cattle ranching, rail connections and lake recreation have shaped its communities and economy.
