Durant, Bryan County, Oklahoma, USA

Durant is the seat of Bryan County in southern Oklahoma, near the Texas border. The city stands at the meeting of U.S. Highways 69/75 and 70. Its beginnings are tied to the arrival of the Missouri, Kansas and Texas Railway in 1872 and a store opened by Dixon Durant the following year. Agriculture, trade and later manufacturing helped the community grow. Southeastern Oklahoma State University and the Choctaw Nation’s headquarters are prominent institutions in the city.
