Garden City is a community in Wayne County, Michigan, set within the lake plains, river valleys and glacial terrain of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula. Garden City developed as a planned suburban community west of Detroit during the early twentieth century. Its historical character grew from the wider period in which timber, farming, railroads and industrialization guided nineteenth- and twentieth-century growth.
