Guam is the largest and southernmost island in the Mariana Islands and an organized, unincorporated territory of the United States. Located in the western Pacific, the island has a tropical climate, coral reefs, limestone plateaus and volcanic hills, with Hagåtña serving as the capital. Guam recorded 153,836 residents in the 2020 Census. Its CHamoru heritage spans more than four thousand years and remains central to the island’s language, food, traditions and village life. The U.S. military, tourism, territorial government, construction, retail trade and transportation are major components of the economy.
