McLaren Health Care of Michigan Faces Ransomware Attack According to Anonymous Source

McLaren Health Care, based in Grand Blanc, Michigan, is reportedly dealing with a ransomware attack that has disrupted operations across all 13 of its hospitals, as well as its ambulatory surgery centers, physician offices, and other facilities. The information comes from an anonymous source within the hospital, who shared details after a ransom letter from the INC Ransomware group was posted on social media. The cyberattack, which began on August 30, 2024, has caused significant issues with scheduling appointments, accessing test results, and maintaining communication through the hospital's telephone systems and websites. While McLaren has not officially confirmed the ransomware attack, the health system is working to investigate the disruption and restore services. This marks the second major tech disruption at McLaren in the past year, following a ransomware attack in August 2023. The hospital has expressed its regret for the inconvenience caused and is focusing on mitigating the impact on patient care as the situation unfolds.
