Davison County workers were warned not to open city emails, while Mitchell’s mayor said there was no indication the city’s email environment was affected.
Officials said the attempt was detected quickly and did not jeopardize water or wastewater systems; federal agencies warned of incidents in at least seven states.
The county said 911 dispatch, jail operations, courts, early voting and other critical services remain operational while it assesses a network incident.
