Patients at Green Clinic in Ruston, Louisiana, faced disrupted care after staff lost access to electronic records and appointment schedules in what local sources described as a cyberattack.
Most doctors could not see patients when the Lincoln Parish Journal visited the clinic Tuesday, employees told the outlet. Some continued seeing patients but “are using paper” to document visits, workers said.
Ruston is the seat of Lincoln Parish in north Louisiana, between Shreveport and Monroe. The city had about 22,000 residents in the 2020 census.
Workers said the systems went down Friday. In a later report, multiple unnamed people inside the clinic attributed the outage to an attack. Green Clinic and its owner, Allegiance Health Management, have not publicly confirmed the cause.
The clinic remained open, but a source told the Journal that staff could not contact patients to cancel appointments because schedules and contact information were unavailable. Journal reporters observed little activity at the normally busy Farmerville Street site during visits Tuesday and Wednesday.
Green Clinic operates three care sites in Ruston and a fourth in Hodge, which is closed for renovations. The reported disruption affected its main Ruston clinic; it is unclear whether the other sites were affected. Allegiance Health Management acquired Green Clinic in 2024.
The unnamed sources identified a group called Wallstreet and said it contacted the clinic electronically. The Journal said it had not reviewed the alleged messages or confirmed a ransom demand. The clinic has not attributed the disruption to a group.
DysruptionHub checked Wallstreet’s leak site on Oct. 8 and found no listing for Green Clinic.
Loss of access to patient records also raised questions about the information they contain. The Journal could not verify whether records were stolen, deleted or simply inaccessible, and Green Clinic has not disclosed a finding on data exposure.
In April, Columbia Surgical Partners in Tennessee said it could not access electronic medical records after a ransomware attack on its parent company. Green Clinic staff have reported a similar loss of records access, though the clinic has not confirmed what caused its outage.
Allegiance had not responded to the Journal’s phone, email and in-person requests as of Wednesday evening, the outlet said. No verified public restoration notice from Green Clinic had emerged by Thursday.
