Nevada County, California, USA flag

Nevada County is a county in northeastern California extending from the western Sierra Nevada foothills across the mountains to the Nevada state line. Nevada City is its county seat, and Grass Valley and Truckee are its other incorporated communities. Established in 1851 during the Gold Rush, the county retains mining towns and historic commercial centers. Its western foothill communities contrast with the higher mountain landscape around Donner Pass and Truckee. Sierra County lies to the north, Yuba County to the west and Placer County to the south.
