Cobb County, Georgia, USA

Cobb County is located in north-central Georgia immediately northwest of Atlanta and forms part of the core Atlanta metropolitan area. It is bordered by Cherokee County to the north, Fulton County to the east and southeast, Douglas County to the southwest, and Paulding and Bartow counties to the west and northwest. Marietta, near the county’s geographic center, is the county seat, while other municipalities include Acworth, Austell, Kennesaw, Mableton, Powder Springs and Smyrna. The county lies within Georgia’s upper Piedmont, where rolling terrain is crossed by the Chattahoochee River, Sweetwater Creek, Noonday Creek and numerous smaller waterways; its northern edge also reaches Lake Allatoona. Interstate 75 and Interstate 285 connect Cobb County with Atlanta and the broader Southeast, while major employment sectors include healthcare, aerospace, technology, education, manufacturing, professional services and logistics. Cobb County had 766,149 residents at the 2020 census and is one of Georgia’s most populous counties.
