Clearwater is a city and the county seat of Pinellas County on Florida’s west-central coast, west of Tampa and north of St. Petersburg. Downtown stands on high ground overlooking Clearwater Harbor, while Clearwater Beach lies across the water on a barrier island facing the Gulf of Mexico. The city forms part of the Tampa Bay region and is closely connected with neighboring Dunedin, Largo and Safety Harbor. Clearwater had an estimated population of 114,364 in 2025, about 2.5% below the 2020 estimates base. Tourism and health care are prominent, alongside financial services, software and cybersecurity, marine industries, life sciences and advanced manufacturing.
