Webster is a town in the northeastern corner of Monroe County, New York, about 12 miles east-northeast of downtown Rochester. It is bordered by Lake Ontario to the north, Irondequoit Bay and the town of Irondequoit to the west, Penfield to the south, and the Wayne County towns of Ontario and Walworth to the east. The incorporated Village of Webster lies within the town, alongside communities such as West Webster, Union Hill and several lakeshore neighborhoods. Webster’s terrain is generally level to gently rolling, with a substantial Lake Ontario shoreline, wetlands and wooded areas around Irondequoit Bay, and former agricultural land increasingly occupied by suburban development. New York State Route 104 is the principal east-west highway, while Ridge Road follows an older settlement and commercial corridor. The town covers 33.52 square miles of land and had 45,327 residents at the 2020 census; the Census Bureau estimated 45,309 residents in 2025.
