Philadelphia Insurance Companies (PHLY), based in Bala Cynwyd, Pennsylvania, is dealing with a major ransomware attack that has shut down its network systems since June 10. The outage has disabled internal employee access, customer-facing online applications, and communication channels, including phone and email. A static message on PHLY’s website confirmed the outage, instructing policyholders to initiate claims via a designated phone line. Multiple cyber industry sources have confirmed that the outage is due to a ransomware incident, although the company has not officially confirmed the nature of the attack.

The company, which employs around 2,000 people and provides commercial property/casualty and professional liability coverage, is part of Japan-based Tokio Marine Holdings. The attack follows a separate cybersecurity event affecting Erie Insurance, also based in Pennsylvania, though no connection has been identified between the two. PHLY is reportedly working with external cybersecurity experts to investigate and recover from the disruption. The incident highlights ongoing vulnerabilities in the insurance sector as cyberattacks targeting critical business operations continue to escalate.
