Officials said the Shelbyville Police Department is investigating a cyberattack that is affecting its network and disrupting some computer systems. In Shelbyville, Kentucky, Police Chief Bruce Gentry told WAVE that an investigation is underway and asked for public patience as systems are restored. Accident and incident reports remain available to the public. The incident was reported Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025.

The department serves a city of about 18,000 residents with an authorized strength of 35 sworn officers. As of Wednesday, there were no city emergency alerts tied to this issue, and no prior public notices labeling it an “outage” were found on official alert pages. The event follows other Kentucky public-sector cyber incidents in recent years, including ransomware at the Jefferson County Clerk’s Office in July 2024 and Norton Healthcare’s confirmed ransomware attack in 2023.
