Utah Soccer disabled player and administrator registration through its Sports Connect platform after members reported potential unauthorized credit card charges tied to recent registrations.

The disruption affects families trying to register players and leaves unresolved whether the reported card activity is connected to the vendor’s systems. Utah Soccer, based in Sandy, says it promotes, develops and governs youth soccer in Utah.

Utah Soccer said in a member update that it immediately contacted Sports Connect after becoming aware of the reports. According to Utah Soccer, Sports Connect said it was “not currently aware of any breach” but was assembling its technical team to investigate the reports and determine their validity and cause.

FOX 13 reported the outage left Utah families unable to register players through the federation. Utah Soccer urged anyone who believes they may have been affected to monitor credit card statements and contact their bank or card issuer immediately if they notice suspicious activity.

Sports Connect is operated by Stack Sports, a Plano, Texas-based youth sports technology company that says its platforms support registration and payment processing for sports organizations. Stack Sports says its systems process more than $1 billion in sports payments annually.

Officials have not publicly confirmed a cybersecurity incident, payment card compromise, data breach, ransomware claim, threat actor or ransom demand.

Utah Soccer and Sports Connect parent company Stack Sports did not respond to requests for comment by publication time.

The investigation follows another Sandy connection involving recreation registration software. In March, a cyberattack on Sandy-based Peak Software Systems disrupted its Sportsman platform, forcing some cities to pause online signups, rentals and card payments.

Registration remained disabled while Sports Connect investigated. The scope of affected members, the cause of the reported unauthorized charges and whether any payment or account data was exposed remain unknown.
