Valley View ISD in Pharr, Texas, said Nov. 10 it is investigating a cybersecurity incident that disrupted computer systems and phone lines; classes continue and officials say students and staff are safe.

Valley View Independent School District told families it is “currently experiencing a cybersecurity incident” affecting computer systems and phone lines. The district said instruction is proceeding while the investigation continues.

Officials did not specify the nature of the incident or whether any data was accessed. The district urged parents to monitor official channels for updates as restoration work proceeds.

The district’s central offices are in Pharr, in Hidalgo County. Valley View ISD is a K-12 public school system serving the Pharr–Hidalgo area near the U.S.-Mexico border.

Texas school districts have faced disruptive cyber events this year. In September, Uvalde CISD closed schools for several days after a ransomware attack crippled phones, building systems and payroll before reopening the following week.

Earlier this year, the nearby City of Mission reported a ransomware incident that encrypted city servers across departments.

Valley View ISD lists its address as 9701 S. Jackson Road in Pharr and serves several campuses across the district.

The district has not announced a timeline for full restoration or any findings on data exposure. Parents and staff should continue to check district communications for updates.
