A cybersecurity incident identified Aug. 10 at Brazosport College in Lake Jackson, Texas, took key systems offline, extended summer deadlines and delayed two fall terms by one week.
By Friday, the college had not announced a full restoration. Brazosport College President Vincent Solis said systems were being restored in phases, but the college did not provide a recovery estimate.
“Following a cybersecurity incident, we cannot simply turn systems back on,” Solis said. Each system must undergo security review, configuration, testing and validation before returning to service.
The college said it was prioritizing its online learning platform, email, student portal, enrollment services and internal systems used by faculty and staff. The Facts reported Thursday that the student-facing systems were offline.
Friday’s statement did not identify any services as restored. DysruptionHub also could not reach the college’s public website Friday; repeated checks returned a gateway error or timed out.
The college engaged third-party cybersecurity and forensic specialists after its information technology team identified the incident. The specialists were investigating its nature, scope and cause.
Solis said the outage prevented students from accessing coursework and college systems and forced faculty and staff to use alternative methods to serve students and do their jobs.
The college extended summer exam and grading deadlines and warned that final grades and unofficial transcripts would become available gradually as systems returned.

Registration, advising, financial aid and payment functions remained limited because staff could not complete requests requiring access to individual student records. The payment deadline for the affected fall terms moved to Aug. 20.
The college’s 16-week and first eight-week terms will begin Aug. 31, one week later than planned, shortening each by one week. The second eight-week term and its payment deadline remain unchanged.
The college said Friday it had no indication that student, faculty or staff information had been accessed or acquired. The forensic investigation remained ongoing.
Brazosport College is a public college serving southern Brazoria County through associate degrees, bachelor’s degrees, certificates and workforce education.
Other community colleges have faced similar disruptions this year. A May cyberattack at San Diego Miramar College disrupted systems and websites during recovery, while Community College of Beaver County locked down campus technology during a March encryption attack.
DysruptionHub found no public claim of responsibility as of Friday. The college had not responded directly to a request for comment by publication.
