City officials said the municipality experienced a cybersecurity incident over the weekend that disrupted multiple functions in Middletown, Ohio. Announced late Monday, August 18, 2025, the city closed in-person services at City Hall—affecting police/public records, utility billing, income tax, and the health department—until further notice. Online payments via InvoiceCloud remain available with a small card fee, and the city said no utilities will be shut off for non-payment. 911 remains operational; for non-emergencies, residents should call 513-425-7701. Municipal Court continues on a regular schedule, and Tuesday’s City Council meeting will proceed without a livestream but will be recorded for later viewing.

Officials did not specify the nature of the attack or whether any personal data was accessed and said they are working with local, state, and federal partners to restore services. Middletown, a city of about 50,987 in the Cincinnati metro, noted that closures are indefinite while systems are recovered. The situation reflects ongoing pressure on U.S. local governments; federal guidance encourages state and local entities to report incidents to MS-ISAC to aid response and resilience.
