Location overview

Nevada, USA flag

Nevada is a western U.S. state bordered by California, Oregon, Idaho, Utah and Arizona. Much of its landscape lies in the Great Basin, where mountain ranges alternate with broad valleys and water drains toward inland lakes and sinks. The Sierra Nevada and Lake Tahoe lie along its western edge, while the Colorado River marks part of its southeastern boundary. Carson City is the state capital. The largest population centers are in the Las Vegas-Henderson area and the Reno-Carson City region, with mining towns, ranching communities and extensive desert landscapes between them.
